Who we are
The European Network for the Philosophy of Music (ENPM) is a network of philosophers of music and researchers from related disciplines working at academic institutions in Europe. We understand Europe flexibly as to include both EU and non-EU countries.
Our main aims
The general aim of the ENPM is to promote research in the philosophy of music in Europe. The specific aims of the ENPM are specified as follows:
(i) To promote connections and exchanges between academics in Europe interested in the philosophy of music.
(ii) To facilitate the development of existing debates in the philosophy of music and stimulate the emergence of new topics and discussions.
(iii) To serve as a platform to generate stronger connections between scholars to apply for EU and non-EU funding.
Our founding members
ENPM was founded 1st June of 2023 in the University of Roma Tre (Italy), having as founder members the following academics: Alessandro Arbo (University of Strasbourg), Alessandro Bertinetto (University of Turin), Mario De Caro (University of Roma Tre) , Lisa Giombini (University of Roma Tre), Krzysztof Guczalski (Jagiellonian University of Krakow), Vítor Guerreiro (University of Porto), Eran Guter (Max Stern Yezreel Valley College), Slávka Kopčáková (University of Presov), Elzė Sigutė Mikalonytė (University of Cambridge), Dušan Milenković (University of Niš), Vítor Moura (University of Braga), Chiara Palazzolo (University of Roma Tre), Nemesio G. C. Puy (Complutense University of Madrid), Rūta Stanevičiūtė (Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre).
Structure of ENPM
The structure of the network is constituted by the members of the Steering Committee, some of which are directly responsible for different aspects of the network. The steering committee and the responsibility positions are provisional until they are endorsed by vote at the next plenary assembly.
